The award-winning performance “Deposit of Soul” now streaming on Akroasis.gr
An ordinary woman takes the stage in Deposit of Soul, determined to unravel the web of
an unspoken agreement that gradually took shape over the years of her marriage — an
agreement in which deeply buried emotions were sacrificed for the sake of social
appearances.
She confronts the anguish of living within this silent pact and the tragic consequences of
an unexpected death. Her words strike at social conventions, while at times reaching the
very edge of madness.
“People need compassion,” says writer and actress Vasileia Diminidou. “They need to feel
that they are not alone. And when they struggle to find the words to express what lies
within them, they need someone who can give those feelings a voice.”
The performance was presented at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation and received
distinctions at the 92 ART Monologue Festival in 2014 for Text, Performance, Audience
and Direction.
